BIGGIE: Aya Aragon, 4th Year, Bioengineering smalls #1: Guinivir Lopez, 3rd Year, Pharmacy smalls #2: Nina Castillo, 2nd Year, Industrial Engineering Family: Allegiance >Describe your relationship with your BIGGIE/smalls!<
A: My two smalls are absolutely incredible. Guin's probably the most ambitious go-getter I've ever met, and Nina is the source of the whole world's chill good vibes. Watching them grow and navigate college (and BKD ebo) has been so rewarding! I strive to be an older sister figure for the two of them, and the three of us being the only girls in Allegiance, well, I guess we're a force to be reckoned with :)) G: I think of Aya as my mom!!! I can go to her for advice and she always makes time in her busy schedule if I need her. I can also go complain to her if somebody is roasting me to which she often responds back with "tough luck daughter" and proceeds to add to the roast HAHA. She's always straightforward with her words, always being direct and most of all, she constantly reminds me that she believes in me. As for Nina, I think of her as my little sister. I have urges to tease her cuz she's adorable and shy but she's super duper kind and thoughtful. Also she's so pretty and if there's any guy reading this, don't you dare touch her 😤 I will fight you . N: Aya is like the perfect mix between a mom figure and a homie/big sister to me. She takes care of me, she checks up on how I’m doing, tells me her crazy stories from back in the day LOL, and she just serves as good role model. As a homie/big sis, she encourages me to have fun and gives me honest advice about anything and everything. We have the type of relationship where we might not talk everyday, but I know she has my back and I always got hers. The little time that we do get to spend together is always full of laughs about random things or how we don’t know the choreo yet. >What's something you've learned from your BIGGIE/smalls?< A: From the two of them, I've learned to be more ambitious, passionate (ahem, Guin) and more chill and go with the flow (I see u Nina). They remind me of certain parts of myself, but show me that I can always improve on those aspects and be more like them <3 G: I've learned from Aya something very simple. Don't work at KFT! jokes HAHA Aya taught me that it's perfectly okay to be who I am because there are still people who will accept me for who I am, even if we butt heads. N: To just live life and have fun!! Aya’s a great person and she just radiates so much crazy energy. I definitely was on the quieter side my first year, but Aya has shown me that it’s okay to live loose and just have a good time. Her positivity towards life and her determination to just live life to the fullest is something I admire a lot. I also learned about a lot of good music that I haven’t heard before from the spotify playlist she made me :’) >What's your favorite memory with your BIGGIE/smalls?< A: 2019 Kamayan, probably. It was one of the very few times that all of Allegiance was together last year (we're all old and busy now) and the energy was incredible. Seeing all of Guin and Lenard's hard work pay off, and Nina's first time with all of Barkada and D1, I knew they'd remember it for a long time and I was really happy to be there with them. G: My favorite BIGGIEsmalls memory was our first hangout together with Nina during Finals week. We gathered at Aya's apartment where she cooked us locilog and after eating we just sat on her floor talking about a bunch of different things. Later that night we went out together to get boba, but not before Nina gave us Christmas presents which was so cute 🥺 N: I can’t pick between these two so here’s both. The first was when Aya brought me a LARGE dunkin coffee when my 12 hour overnight Black Friday shift was ending and we got to talk for a bit. It was the most relieving thing ever to get to talk to her and have a nice, real conversation after 12 hours of customers yelling at me how the line was moving so slow. But yeah, Aya came to my rescue and really showed the mom figure in her. My other favorite memory was this one time when Aya, Guin, and I were walking back from Newbury street and we were already late to a GM and it was freezing cold and the wind was crazy. We walked past Wendy’s, and I really wanted a 4 for 4 but I didn’t want to be even more late to the gm and I still had a huge thing of Halo Halo in my hands, but Aya convinced me to turn around and go to Wendy’s where she also got a 4 for 4. That right there is a true homie.
