BIGGIE: Chris Park, 4th Year, Biochemistry, Health Science Minor smalls #1: Andrea Koid, 2nd Year, Biochemistry, Global Health Minor smalls #2: Bernice Luong, 2nd Year, Business + Design Family: Candy Fam >Describe your relationship with your BIGGIE/smalls!<
CP: I love them both. I am glad that through our relationship they were both able to become really close friends/roomies with each other! It's really crazy that they're close because honestly they kinda have opposite outward personalities. For example, Bernice is super funny and Andrea isn't (but it's ok because Andrea is like... considerate of other people or whatever). But yeah we literally hangout whenever we're not in class or have responsibilities for the most part. AK: chris is literally like.... our dad. (he has also aged into it a lot esp cause he’s old now!!!) he cares about us so much and he’s always always ALWAYS looking out for us. he rly set such a high standard for a biggie bcs he always put in SOOOO much effort to hang out with us, and he still does!! i feel like i would be in a rly different place right now if not for chris - he encouraged me to become more active in barkada (and the rest of paac), and he also introduced me to so many ppl in barkada (especially candy fam peeps!!) and helped me feel so at home and just so much more comfortable at northeastern and in the US in general. he’s also such a great listener bcs he would always ask me about home and listen to me talk about it and i appreciated that so much. i was soooo homesick during freshman year, esp because i’m from soooo far away, and he really helped me so much with it - from getting me milo (my fave drink from back home) as my biggie smalls reveal present to just listening to me talk and hanging out with me when he totally didn’t need to, to inviting me to candy fam hangouts, chris rly went above and beyond as a biggie and i’m forever thankful for it!!! BL: This >What's something you've learned from your BIGGIE/smalls?< CP: They definitely taught me how to be comfortable towards other people and friends. I feel so comfortable around them, and I can really speak whatevers on my mind to them (both happy and stressful thoughts). AK: chris always gives me advice abt being premed or being biochem in general (yay to having the same major!!!). i always go to chris whenever i’m stressed abt smth or if i have any questions abt being premed or classes or anything which is soooo nice !! he’s just always so willing to help me and i’m so thankful for that. aside from that i think smth else i learned is that “it’s ok not to be ok” LMAO as cheesy as it sounds, whenever i’m upset i tend to always deny it and be like “i’m okay!!! things r fine” but chris is always like u know.. it’s okay to say that you’re NOT fine!! and i think that is so important!!! cause i feel like i always have to be Fine but u know.... it’s okay to admit that you’re not! in general, i definitely learned so much more about how to deal with college through chris and i’m just so thankful for it!!! i love u chris shoutout chris my biggie best biggie ever BL: Some things I've learned from Chris are the efforts and actions it may take to be someone other people can feel comfortable with, especially in newer environments. >What's your favorite memory with your BIGGIE/smalls?< CP: I think it's different for each of them individually. For Andrea, it was when I gave her Milo when she was a lil homesick during the beginning of her first year. For Bernice, it was when I saw her Chili's post on Berneats (@berneeeats on insta). My favorite memory with them together was when we went to nyc together (pre-covid). AK: i rly had sosososososo many good memories with chris (cause i spent like 90% of my time with him and bernice LOL) whether it was just hanging out in the beginning of freshmen year in snell with him cuz he asked me to, to hanging out in curry with other barkada peeps (cause he asked me to study there), to watching movies with him and bernice my T in lightview every week and making stupid commentary, to hanging out with him and candy fam (and our candy fam sleepover!!!) i just appreciate all the time that i spend with him (and also with candy fam) bcs it is always a great time. i think smth that definitely sticks out to me though is when he took us to his hometown in bergen country new jersey and also NYC!!!! he took me and bernice to bergen country and NYC before christmas break last year and it was just soooo fun esp since i had never been to new jersey or NYC before!!! we had such good food, good talks, good laughs, good everything!!!! i just love hanging out with him and bernice, i always feel so comfortable and at home when i’m with them and that’s smth that is so meaningful to me, esp as i grew up in an environment with a very close knit community and was scared that i wouldn’t be able to find those kind of friends here at college, but then i found chris and bernice!!! :^) we are actually all soooo different but somehow we work tgt so well, and i’m so grateful that it happened the way it did bcs idk where i would be if not for my biggie and for candy fam !!!! BL: My favorite memory is when we were going to bake cheesecake but I did not realize how long it would take so we baked it another day except for that instead of graham cracker crust we used frozen pie crust so I guess it was a cheese pie. |
