BIGGIE: Lauren Bough, 4th Year, International Affairs Major, East Asian Studies Minor smalls #1: Marika Boink, 3rd Year, Linguistics + Psychology Major, SLPA Minor smalls #2: Elena Mercurio, 1st Year, Architecture Major, Sociology + Urban Landscape Studies Minor Fam: Destiny's Children >Describe your relationship with your BIGGIE/smalls!<
LB: My smallsies are my (d)earest (c)hildren:) I like to think they keep me young! That being said, Marika is now “old” too, so I am relying on Elena to keep us in the loop. I think all three of us have chill vibes and tend to be the ones to laugh at our fam’s chaos while also lowkey goading them on at times, which I guess is it’s own brand of chaos in itself. Both of my smalls’ are so friendly and warm and it always makes me happy whenever we hang!!! MB: lauren's someone that i look up to and know i'll always feel comfortable around! no matter how long we've spent apart, we're able to pick up right where we left off :) also love making fun of dc w her heheheh EM: We just got paired! so still getting to know each other. Lauren did once refer to me as “my child” so I think that’s a pretty good summary so far. >What's something you've learned from your BIGGIE/smalls?< LB: With both of my smallsies, I picked them up without really knowing them. In the time since then, I think I’ve been learning how to build stronger friendships and the value in maintaining them through my relationships with Marika and Elena. I’ve had to learn how to be in the moment and simply enjoy the company I’m with. With my study abroad, the pandemic, and living off campus, I think it would’ve been extremely easy for me to drop off the face of the Earth in Barkada, but my smallsies remind me of all the fun to be had <3<3<3 MB: lmao she taught me how to cook mushrooms ,, but aLso taught me how important it is to speak your mind and step out of your comfort zone whenever you get the chance!! EM: I admire how well Lauren balances coop/spending time with people/being super involved with activism both through northeastern and in general. I hope this is a skill I pick up from her through being her smalls. >What's your favorite memory with your BIGGIE/smalls?< LB: My favorite memory with Elena so far (I just picked her up this semester y’all!) is when we were just picnicking on centennial with IV food because she swiped me :))) It was warm and sunny and nice to just chill and get to know her better. With Marika, my favorite memory is actually from before reveal, when I knew I was picking her up but she was clueless LOL We did the underclassmen scavenger hunt and were on the same team, and later we got cannolis with other BKD friends to compare Mike’s versus Modern. MB: when we made kale pesto (+ dessert ofc) at her place! she went abroad the semester before, so it was really nice getting to hang out w her again :) i was also having a Not So Great day that day so just being able to do something chill but still fun was really nice (also the pesto turned out AMAZING lol) EM: Reveal! got a new favorite mug and then all of DC (minus mia ripp) went out for hotpot. it was so lovely to be able to see the whole fam together and I hope we get more chances to be like that next year :)))

BIGGIE: Santiago Tolentino Pacheco, 5th Year, Pharmacy Major smalls: Pauline Esguerra, 4th Year, Pharmacy Major Fam: Sexy and I Know It >Describe your relationship with your BIGGIE/smalls!<
STP: At first, my relationship with Pauline was more of a mentor/mentee vibe since we’re both studying pharmacy. But it only took a few months for us to just become really great friends. We see each other all the time, we’ve gone on trips together, and now we’re even neighbors! It’s a BIGGIE to bestie story. PE: santi is such a good friend that i almost forget he’s my biggie sometimes. i can literally go to him for anything, whether i need advice on pharmacy classes/exams or i just need to borrow a baking tray since he lives across the street lol. mostly though, we just like to hang out every so often and share how our lives are going over some food and good music. i have him to thank for so many of my favorite memories in college, and i know we’ll stay in touch well beyond these 6 years >What's something you've learned from your BIGGIE/smalls?< STP: One lesson I’ve learned from Pauline is to hit your homies up! Something I love about her is that she always makes me feel included just by asking to hang out. Sending a simple “wyd” to a friend can lead to a great adventure. I try to see/FT/text my friends a lot more thanks to her. PE: he’s such an outgoing and creative person that it inspires me to explore a new hobby/try something new on my own. he’s always down to go on an adventure - whether it’s going on hikes, taking day trips around boston, or cooking new recipes we’re always doing something different and exciting. >What's your favorite memory with your BIGGIE/smalls?< STP: I had a hard time choosing just one, so some of my favorite memories are helping her prepare for her own BIGGIEsmalls reveal when she picked up Maya, our trip to Maine & New Hampshire last Fall, and the 4-person dance party we had in my room with our other BKD homies. PE: we rented an airbnb in maine with a few other friends and it was a super fun, chill weekend trip to get out of boston for a bit. good vibes, good food, good company Name: Gwen Catipay Hometown: Newington, CT Major: Behavioral Neuroscience + Philosophy College: College of Social Sciences and Humanities Year of Graduation: 2024?
