BIGGIE: Michael Chichioco, 4th Year, Biochemistry
smalls #1: John Soliven, 3rd Year, Computer Engineering + Computer Science smalls #2: Lenard Rivera, 2nd Year, Civil Engineering Family: Allegiance -- Describe your relationship with your BIGGIE/smalls! M: I have two smalls, Lenard and John and they are both absolutely fantastic and honestly I am so lucky to be able to call both of them my smalls. What I love about both of them is I feel like they both appeal to different sides of my personality and they both bring out the best in me always, but in different ways! With John, I've known him since basically his first Barkada event and the year I met him was also the first year that I was on eboard and the first year I was actually active in Barkada. I remember when I first met him, John would literally only remember my name because he forgot everyone else's and would always seek me out and BKD events, LOL. On the real though, I love spending quality time with John because when we hang out it's just us being real and talking about life and what matters. With Lenard, he reminds me of the simple joys in life and spending time with him is just a fun time and a blast. I love just joking around and always having a good time with him. He comes to me for advice when he needs it and I'm always happy to help him in any way I can! With both of them, all three of us are honestly incredibly busy and while I don't get to see them every single day or every week like other biggie smalls families, I truly appreciate both of them and am grateful to have them in my life. While I may not be able to see them all the time, the time I spend with them is quality and I know that both of them are definitely going to be in my life once I graduate college. <3 J: Michael is the the most caring and kind hearted soul you will ever meet in yo life. Anytime I need anything, whether that be someone to talk to, to get food with, to ball up (sometimes), to game with, he is always there for me. Michael is one of those people that you know you want in your life even way past your college years. I always know he has my back and he knows I got his back too. L: Michael is my kuya/tatay since the beginning, he has been looking after me and making sure I'm always doing well. He's one of the people who made me feel comfortable not just in Barkada but in America in general. Coming from a different part of the world, with a different background, we still share the same culture that binds us together. I'm very blessed that God has given my biggie to help me adjust and survive in a completely different world from the home that I'm used to. I won't be who I am right without the guidance and support of my biggie, my fam and Barkada in general. I will always be grateful to have my biggie! -- What’s something you’ve learned from your BIGGIE/smalls? M: Like I mentioned above, both of them remind me of different sides of myself and due to that they have both taught me a lot of things in very different ways. For Lenard, he has definitely reminded me to just let loose, believe in myself, think positively and enjoy the simple joys. When I was younger, I remember I used to be super carefree and energetic and never bogged down by stressful or challenging moments. I have definitely faced much more overwhelming situations since I've been getting older but Lenard, without intentionally trying, always does a great job at reminding me of the little things and reminding me of how great it feels to be positive. So thank you to Lenard for inspiring me to always be positive and believe. For John, he has taught me so much about values prioritizing what matters most to you. I honestly love all my talks with John about life because we always just get straight to what matters and skip everything that's superficial. Whether it's caring for a friend that needs a little bit of support through a tough time, or prioritizing and showing all love to your parents or family, he has really shown me to prioritize and remember what is most important. I think being John's biggie has definitely made me a better person, so thank you to John for always reminding me of what's actually important in life. J: I’ve learned so much from Michael but I would say the most important thing I’ve learned from him is how to be a better friend. L: The best thing Michael has taught me by just showing examples is confidence. I won't have the confidence to run as PC without my biggie's support. He always assures me that no matter what I do, he will always be at my back. -- What’s one of your favorite moments with your BIGGIE/smalls? M: One of my favorite moments with both of them was actually just a few weeks ago when the three of us went to Coreanos after dance practice and then played smash bros back at 748 afterwards. I don't have much to say about this other than I just couldn't stop laughing and smiling the whole time. Moments like these just remind me of how lucky I am to have such fabulous smalls like Lenard and John! J: One of the first times I hung out with Michael I carried his microwave from Target to 319 Huntington. My shoulders were never the same after that. L: When we had dinner together at Crave and we talked about life in general.
