MB: my m&ms !!! i love them no matter how much i say the opposite in our gc ❤️ they keep me Humble ngl,, the amount of bullying targeted at me ,,, MG: Our relationship is founded on a liE! The semester I got picked up, I asked Marika if she'd applied and she straight up said no ?? and then I got picked up and guess who was my big.. But in all seriousness, my big is the most understanding person I've ever known and I feel like I can tell her aNything. Truly would've had a totally different college experience if I didn't know her. MS: the first time i held mia's cat i rapidly developed symptoms of a cold and i discovered that i am, in fact, allergic to cats. marika pulled out benadryl out of nowhere and i feel like that's a pretty good summary of what our relationship is like. on a similar note, i changed marika's name in my phone to momrika the day i got picked up and i think it's very fitting. her, mia, and i text constantly every day and marika somehow always has insightful advice to give whenever mia or i are struggling with something. she's always looking out for me and the rest of our (d)umb (c)haotic fam and i don't know what we'd do without her. >What's something you've learned from your BIGGIE/smalls?< MB: mia loves and cares so deeply about others which has taught me to be more thoughtful & kind even if it's in little ways. mika's so understanding/a great listener and has helped me realize how important it is to prioritize myself + my mental health. MG: The BIGgest thing I've learned from my BIG is to not care about what anyone thinks. MS: marika once told me about how one year she made it her goal to be more assertive, despite that being an anxiety we both share, and that's stuck with me every time i'm struggling to speak up for myself. she always encourages me to do so and it's something i really admire about her. >What's your favorite memory with your BIGGIE/smalls?< MB: lying to them both before picking them up,, i love traditions :') fr favorite memory w the both of them was apple picking!! and then going back to mia's aDORABLE kitchen after to bake apple pies (cherry on top: mika is allergic to mia's cat). also just the countless times mia and i have gotten food and sat outside and just talked, or the chaotic nights mika and i have spent baking + had brunch the next day ♡ Too Many good mems to choose from. MG: Too many to choose from !! I love going to sox games with my big, bonding over new girl, and watching marvel movies. I also Loved going apple picking with my big and twin and then staying at my house for the weekend making pies and just hanging out. So excite to keep making more mems ♡ MS: there are so many memories with marika that are important to me! the time we made frog cookies and frog donuts together and started a grease fire, the time i essentially lived at her house for a weekend and we made m&m pancakes, boba (hand-rolled!) and cookies that kept melting all over our hands all in the same day, countless brunches, apple picking with her and mia,, too many to choose from. every time i'm with her she makes me feel comfortable being myself and that, above everything else, is what makes every memory with her so special ♡
BIGGIE: Mark Choa, 5th year, Business Major (w/Concentrations in Finance & Accounting) smalls: Asia Sanchez, 1st year, Business Administration Major Fam: Prestige >Describe your relationship with your BIGGIE/smalls!<
MC: I see our relationship as quasi mentor older brother type relationship. I met Asia when I was her TA in BUSN 1102 which is an class designed to help first semester freshman transition to Northeastern. I hope as her biggie I try to impart lessons learned both from a business and Barkada perspective. AS: bestie vibes. I can go to mark for any advice or support whenever I need. >What's something you've learned from your BIGGIE/smalls?< MC: From Asia, I think I learned honestly just how much I still love being a part of Barkada. I wasn’t as active as I normal have been last semester but getting to experience all the special things Barkada does for the first time makes it feel like my first time too. AS: Big baller money moves 😎 >What's your favorite memory with your BIGGIE/smalls?< MC: Favorite memory is pretty tough getting to see her experience her first BK was pretty special but I think it has to be our Thursday lunches where I take her to different restaurant around Boston or we make something like poke. AS: Going out to eat every week and getting to learn so much about Boston while talking about any and everything <3 BIGGIE: Shawn Robin, 4th year, Computer Science Major smalls: Katrina Gonzales, 2nd year, Business Administration Major (w/Concentration in Marketing Analytics) Fam: Lineage >Describe your relationship with your BIGGIE/smalls!<
SR: katrina and i have such a great relationship and our biggiesmalls relationship is unparalleled. she’s one of my best friends and it is always such a great time with her. she’s absolutely hilarious and anytime with her always involves lots of laughing. we are also pretty similar in several ways but probably none bigger than our competitive spirit. our shared drive to always want to win and be the best is unmatched and i love that about her. whether its a game night, wandering on newbury, or just laughing at each other, i am consistently convinced i have the best smalls. KG: when i tell people me and shawn’s BIGGIEsmalls origin story, i always use the words “instant click.” sure, there may be moments when he makes one too many dad jokes and wears zip up vests with brown outdated loafers, but i truly wouldn’t wanna be anyone else’s smalls. i first met shawn online last year and did not give two poops about him, but when we grabbed bangkok pinto last spring during eboard shadowing, it was like we were already two peas in a pod! shawn fits my definition of a perfect BIGGIE - i can go to him when i want to laugh, vent, gossip 😅, send my outfit options, play games, and get personal + professional advice. he’s the first person i look for at party and the last person i’d go to if i wanna get pizza (his love for hawaiian pizza is a big no no). he’s become one of the most iconic people i’ve met in college, and i know that we’ll be lifelong friends. >What's something you've learned from your BIGGIE/smalls?< SR: don’t use the laughing emoji. KG: there are a multitude of things i’ve learned from shawn (surprisingly). he’s taught me to truly get the most out of not only my time in college but also life. he really inspires me to just have fun, to surround myself with people who make me laugh, to travel, to work hard in school, to be more generous (i’m a bit stingy 😅) and to work hard and play hard. shawn has also given me a better mirror to look at myself through - his confidence in himself makes me more confident, even if he’s sometimes cringy. >What's your favorite memory with your BIGGIE/smalls?< SR: too many to choose just one but some highlights include reveal, going to rhode island, both BK days, and all the countless nights in 748 :) KG: my favorite memory with shawn is writing our portion of the 2021 BK script. we wrote a short skit for maglalatik, and i remember us spending so much time at curry just trying to pop out as many jokes as we could. i think that’s my favorite memory because i had the best kind of laugh where your stomach begins to hurt. it also reminds me of how similar shawn and i are and that we’re always on the same ~wavelength~ another favorite memory is just all of our 748 nights jumbled into one. it’s all pretty much a blur now, but they’re the best nights i’ve spent in college so far.
